AGHome Local privacy policy
This English version is a courtesy translation. If there is any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.
Summary
AGHome Local collects no personal data, has no user accounts, shows no ads and includes no analytics or tracking tools. The developer receives no data from the app.
Use of Android's VPN service
The app uses Android's VPN service (VpnService) for a single purpose: to receive the device's DNS queries and answer them with the filter that runs inside the app itself.
- The VPN is local. There is no remote VPN server and traffic is not redirected to GNApps or to third parties.
- Only DNS queries go through it. The rest of the device's traffic (pages, videos, messages) does not go through the app and is not inspected.
- The app does not collect, sell or share the data that goes through the VPN.
Data stored on your device
To show you the query log and the statistics, the app stores on your device the domain names that are queried, the date and the result (allowed or blocked). By default they are kept for seven days. You can clear the log, change that period or turn it off in the dashboard (Settings → General settings). Your configuration, your lists and your rules are also stored. None of this leaves the device, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Network connections
The app connects to the internet to:
- Resolve DNS queries that are not blocked. They are sent, encrypted, to the configured DNS server. The default is Quad9 (Quad9 Foundation), which receives the queried domain name and your IP address under its own privacy policy. You can change it to any other server in the dashboard.
- Download and update the blocklists. By default they are fetched from AdGuard's public list registry, hosted on GitHub Pages. The server hosting them sees your IP address, as with any download.
The app makes no other connection on its own.
Permissions
- VPN: to filter DNS, as explained above. Android asks for the permission the first time.
- Notifications and foreground service: to keep the filter running and let you know it is active.
- Internet: to resolve queries and download the lists.
Third-party software
AGHome Local includes AdGuard Home, free software by AdGuard Software Ltd. The app runs it with update checks turned off. GNApps is not affiliated with AdGuard or with Quad9.
Children
AGHome Local is a technical tool aimed at adults and is not intended for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this same page with its date.
